"We provide dog training and behavior modification, helping to make your dog a better part of the family"

A Personal Message From Caleb
Hi, my name is Caleb Frisbee and I am the owner and operator of K9 Perceptions. It is my belief that we are not here to just train dogs; we train companions. Dogs are more than just dogs, they are family, friends, and confidantes. My dog Savanna is my best friend. Every morning, she greets me with a hug and a tail wag, ready to start the new day. She makes me smile, laugh, and offers unconditional love for nothing in return.

I keep this in mind with every dog and client I work with. I don’t aim to turn your dog into a robot; I would rather build better communication channels between your dog and you. In most situations where your dog is exhibiting bad behaviors, whether it is growling, acting out aggressively, bolting across the yard, or even a bad case of nerves, you dog is just acting out to escape or pursue something, or just simply scared. I like to take this negative energy and channel it into learning positive, productive, and better ways for your dog to live the happy, fun-loving life we all want for them.I work with your dog, not so they can fetch on command, but so they can learn to follow directions in ways that make them excited to bring back a rubber ball or play dead. In making sure that your dog is excited and learning new things, we are teaching them to better communicate with us for a more enjoyable experience.

After all, nothing’s better than a happy, well-behaved, furry friend.

More Than Obedience Training

Everyone says that a dog is a man’s best friend. But what happens when your best friend gets out of line, barking excessively, biting, or tearing the house apart when you have to run out to get groceries. Unfortunately, when most people realize that Buddy is out control, they ship him out to the local pound. Chances are Buddy will sit in his chain link kennel until finally the pound has no choice than to put him down in order to make more room for other uncontrollable dogs.

But the pound is not the answer and your dog doesn’t have to be a stranger in your own home. Dogs have unique ways in seeing and interpreting the world around them. What we as humans may see, may not be what your dog sees. The keys to strengthening the communication channels between you and you dog can be found in obedience training.

It’s a common misunderstanding that dog training will zap the personality out of dog and be replaced with a robot. Animals should not be tools. We work with dogs and owners on:

  • Basic Obedience in which your dog will consistently hear and obey requests: Sit, Stay, Come, Down and Off.
  • Jumping on people.
  • Behavior Modification in which we correct concerning behaviors: Storm Shyness, Socialization, Hyperactivity, Potty Training, and Destructive Patterns.
  • Advanced Obedience which entails hearing and obeying specific requests: Settle, Kennel (enter crate,) Turn on lights, Retrieve Personal Items, Play Dead, Crawl, and help Integrating new pets into your home.

  Positive Reinforcement

Through positive reinforcement such as luring techniques and rewards, your dog will ease out of bad habits and grow into the family pet you want and adore. We can arrange group classes (all held at local vets around Duval, St. Johns, and Clay counties) where your dog can learn to socialize with others as well as more personalized one-on-one training in your own home in a public space you would like to bring your dog to.

In addition to just training and correcting behaviors with your dogs, we also reward you and your dog for good manners through out American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen (CGC) and S.T.A.R. Puppy programs. These programs stress the importance of good obedience and training in our dogs as well as good ownership practices in us.  CGC doesn’t lays the groundwork for good behavior, but also provides fun “extra-curricular” activities that you and your dog can participate in including obedience, agility, tracking, and performance competitions.

Not only do we work to give dogs a second chance, we also work to give the same opportunity to humans. We work to give back to the community by training service dogs to become companions and aids to the mobility impaired.  We work to train good manners in our furry friends and good dog ownership practices so that in the event of a medical emergency you are not alone.

After all, we’re in the business of training companions, not just dogs.

We are proud to serve South Carolina, east Georgia, and northeast Florida.
